SEVENPEAKS is a production company focused on cinema, artistic research, and social impact. We produce original projects for the big screen as well as films and campaigns for NGOs and socially driven organizations and companies.
Our work does not begin with predefined messages, but with questions.
We develop films and creative approaches that make complex issues accessible, condense lived experience, and open spaces for shifts in perspective. In our commissioned work, we pursue the same artistic and conceptual standards as in our own films, working closely with our partners to develop authentic, cinematic narratives from their ideas and content.
SEVENPEAKS was founded by Janis Westphal. He is a director, cinematographer, and creative producer with over 14 years of professional experience. He studied history, journalism, and communication sciences as well as global history in Berlin and Giessen, completed a program in directing and documentary filmmaking at the self-organized film school filmArche in Berlin, and later earned a Master’s degree in Film: Co-Creation and Innovation for Social Change at the International Film School Cologne. His films have screened at numerous international festivals and received multiple awards. Alongside his project work, he teaches documentary filmmaking and media education.
SEVENPEAKS film & impact works on a project-by-project basis with an international network of writers, directors, cinematographers, editors, and other creatives who share a common mindset. Cinematic ambition, social responsibility, and ecological awareness shape our collaborations, alongside technical expertise and precise production processes. This mindset forms the foundation of our work and is reflected in the 7 Peaks, which define how and why we make films.

We think film from the perspective of cinema — as an artistic and social space.
Our films emerge from an open cinematic search, not from predetermined answers.
We take a clear stance on the social and ecological issues of our time.
We do not simplify where reality is contradictory or uncomfortable.
Form, image, and rhythm arise from the necessity of the subject.
We take responsibility for the stories we tell and the impact they have.
Our commissioned work carries the same cinematic depth as our own films for the big screen.
